Many folks are focusing on the fact that President Obama has left his summer vacation location of Martha's Vineyard, and with good reason;  because NO REASON has been given.  If that isn't a cause for concern I'm not sure what is.

Let's face it, there is a lot going on in the world right now.  But none of what is going on now (with the exception of the mess in Ferguson, Missouri) would have required a vacation interruption to return to Washington.  In fact, this was a PLANNED interruption.  That's correct, it was planned back on at least August 7th and August 8th... with NO DETAILS attached to the reason.  All anyone knows is that he planned to slip out of Martha's Vineyard on Sunday, August 17th, and scheduled to return to his retreat on Tuesday, August 19th.

So, did President Obama KNOW something horrific was going to happen?  We don't know.  What we do know, is that the following statements were released during White House Press Briefings on August 7th and 8th respectively:

August 7, 2014 -

"Q    Just one other thing.  The White House said that the President, in a departure from what had been originally released as his schedule for his trip to Martha’s Vineyard, will come back for a day or so.  Can you tell us a little bit about why he’ll be returning?
MR. EARNEST:  The President wanted to take advantage of a little time, not next week but the week after, to do a day or two of in-person meetings here at the White House.  This is not in relation to an emergent situation -- that's obvious because these meetings are being scheduled a couple weeks in advance.  But this is an opportunity for the President to do some in-person meetings here at the White House just for a day or two before he returns to Martha’s Vineyard.
Q    Any detail on who those in-person meetings might be with?
MR. EARNEST:  Not at this point."
August 8, 2014
"Q    And when the President comes back from Martha’s Vineyard for those two days, are those meetings going to be related to this?
MR. EARNEST:  I don’t have an update on the President’s meeting schedule when he does return.  I wouldn’t be surprised if he does have conversations on this topic when he is back in the White House, not next week, but the week after.  But again, the President had planned to return to the White House before this recent announcement.  So there are other meetings in the schedule, too.
Q    So this had nothing to do with those plans at all?
MR. EARNEST:  It did not.  It did not."

So what was so urgent that President Obama needed to return?  After all, the issues with Iraq, Ukraine, Russia, ISIS were all on-going, and none of them required the President to address the nation from the White House.  Military strikes were already ordered, and there was already a humanitarian "victory" in getting the Iraq refugees off Mount Sinjar.
There is nothing listed on the President's calendar other than a meeting with his Security Advisors and a meeting with Attorney General Eric Holder regarding the incident in Ferguson, MO (that does not require a face-to-face meeting IN Washington).  The President has already given several press briefings from Martha's Vineyard.
So forgive me for being cynical, but, can someone PLEASE explain WHAT was so urgent and SECRETIVE that the President was in Washington, and has yet to explain WHY!
