The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Set to Launch Legal Proceedings Against President Trump

Washington, DC
January 28th, 2017

The American Civil Liberties Union had started fighting its "War on Trump" before the 45th President of the United States was even sworn in.  In fact, on January 19th, 2017, the ACLU began legal proceedings to open up Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for several pieces of documents which they believe demonstrate there is a conflict of interest between Donald J. Trump, and his ability to be Commander in Chief impartially and ethically.  Keep in mind, this is all being done pre-emptively without actual knowledge of wrongdoing.

In other words, it's a Liberal-minded "Witch Hunt."  For full disclosure, I personally am not opposed to about 50% of the work of the ACLU, as they tend to fight for Human Rights and protections of Civil Liberties, irrespective of political ideology or party, both of which are important (I don't really think anyone can dispute those two ideals).  However, the ACLU is starting to take on more of an aggressive stance and posture, one of which resembles more of an Activist role than one of a legal / ethics / civil rights role that they previously have held.

Again, it's hard to argue that any group or persons shouldn't have the right to peaceful protests, particularly when there is a legitimate reason to do so.  Nor should anyone in America try to quell other's rights to peacefully assemble and/or protest.  But in recent months, we have seen repeatedly, just how non-peaceful these protests have been.  Ranging anywhere from chanting "Death to Police" to burning down large sections of otherwise peaceful cities and towns;  these "peaceful protests" have been, and continue to take on an Anarchist overtone, which is drowning out their messages of peace and coexistence.  Oh wait, that has never been what their message has been.  Their message has simply been "Get President Trump Out Of Office, NOW!"

There is also a rumor floating around to impeach the now 45th President.  For what?  No one really seems to know.  All I know is that the rumors are circulating around social media without any sense of merit to their claims to remove the sitting President.  Now the funniest part of all of this (if there is really a funny bit to any of this) is that the Lefty Liberals are able to assemble this large Army of Social Justice Warriors (SJW's) to try to remove President Trump and block every action he takes, yet, they were unable to converge and meet up at the ballot boxes around America on November 8th, 2016 to elect Hillary Clinton our 45th President.  Why is that?

That question appears to remain unanswered as of right now, however, that is not stopping the ever growing groups of protesters, demonstrations, and now legal actions by otherwise quiet but important associations like the ACLU.  Let's take a closer look at their 7-Point Plan to basically try to cripple President Trump's efforts to lead America into a period of wealth, security and prosperity:

(Below is from ACLU website)

1.   Demand government accountability and transparency

  • File Freedom of Information Act requests
  • Defend whistleblowers and journalists who rely on them.

2.   Protect the rights of immigrants

  • Mount rapid response to immigration raids
  • File systemic litigation to challenge Fourth Amendment violations and racial profiling in street-level immigration enforcement
  • Develop legal theories to defend sanctuary cities against federal action
  • Represent “Dreamers” when their status comes under attack
  • Bring systemic litigation to challenge excessive and punitive immigration detention
  • Challenge unconstitutional immigration policies that discriminate against Muslims

3.   Defend reproductive rights

  • Oppose efforts to defund Planned Parenthood
  • File litigation to challenge any new federal restrictions on abortion access
  • Challenge laws that permit the use of religion to discriminate by allowing health care providers and social service agencies to turn women away when they seek reproductive health care services or information
  • Challenge abortion restrictions at the state level through litigation and advocacy
  • Challenge existing restrictions on abortion that are more vulnerable to challenge following the Supreme Court’s decision in Whole Women’s Health v. Hellerstedt

4.   Protect First Amendment rights

  • Respond aggressively to threats against Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim and South Asian (AMEMSA) communities
  • Expand efforts to defend and inform protestors through know-your-rights materials, provide legal observers at protests and file lawsuits to protect protestors
  • Fight dragnet government surveillance that sweeps up innocent Americans’ information

5.   Defend LGBT rights

  • Fight the rescission of federal LGBT protections
  • Sue the Department of Defense if it reinstates the ban on open military service by transgender people
  • Oppose religious exemption measures both in state legislatures and Congress that discriminate against LGBT individuals
  • Fight anti-transgender rights bills in Congress and in state legislatures

6.   Defend core civil rights and civil liberties from erosion

  • Identify, investigate, and challenge the worst police departments for Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment violations
  • Intervene in federal consent decrees with police departments and private employers regarding racial and gender discrimination
  • Litigate against the worst voter suppression measures

7.   Mobilize the American people

  • Deploy our 750,000 card-carrying members in direct citizen action, including protests, petitions, and lobbying
  • Raise $100 million for a Constitutional Defense Fund in support of this plan — $47 million of which has already been raised
The ACLU's charge, laid out in the Seven-Point Plan, is to stand ready to confront any unconstitutional elements of the administration's agenda — today on day one and for every day after for the next four years.

There are also insider emails being shared which will demonstrate how the mainstream media is looking to create confusion within the Trump Administration.  Here is an example of the text of one such email correspondence:

"If you are puzzled by the bizarre "press conference" put on by the White House press secretary yesterday (Saturday 1/21/2017) (angrily claiming that Trump's inauguration had the largest audience in history, accusing them of faking photos and lying about attendance), let me help explain it. This spectacle served three purposes:

1. Establishing a norm with the press: they will be told things that areobviously wrong and they will have no opportunity to ask questions. That way, they will be grateful if they get anything more at any press conference. This is the PR equivalent of "negging," the odious pick-up practice of a particular kind of horrible man (e.g., Donald Trump).

2. Increasing the separation between Trump's base (1/3 of the population) from everybody else (the remaining 2/3). By being told something that is obviously wrong—that there is no evidence for and all evidence against, that anybody with eyes can see is wrong—they are forced to pick whether they are going to believe Trump or their lying eyes. The gamble here—likely to pay off—is that they will believe Trump. This means that they will regard media outlets that report the truth as "fake news" (because otherwise they'd be forced to confront their cognitive dissonance.)

3. Creating a sense of uncertainty about whether facts are knowable, among a certain chunk of the population (which is taking a page from the Kremlin, for whom this is their preferred disinformation tactic). A third of the population will say "clearly the White House is lying," a third will say "if Trump says it, it must be true," and the remaining third will say "gosh, I guess this is unknowable." The idea isn't to convince these people of untrue things, it's to fatigue them, so that they will stay out of the political process entirely, regarding the truth as just too difficult to determine.

This is laying important groundwork for the months ahead. If Trump's White House is willing to lie about something as obviously, unquestionably fake as this, just imagine what else they'll lie about. In particular, things that the public cannot possibly verify the truth of. It's gonna get real bad."
