Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein Holds Press Conference on Recent Mueller Charges Against Russian Military Officers

Rod Rosenstein hold an unscheduled press conference at the same time President Trump was being greeted by the Queen of England.  Rosenstein announced that Robert Mueller indicted 12 Russian military officers related to "Election Meddling."

The indictment deals with Russian efforts to conspire to infiltrate state boards of elections, software for election machines and infiltrating State Departments.  Two techniques were used;  spear-phishing and direct network hacking using software to spy on users with key-loggers and screenshots.

Volunteers and employees of campaigns were targets, as were congressional committees and one national political committee.  Hundreds of files were planted and software launched malicious spyware programs.  The conspirators created fictitious online personas including "DC Leaks" and "Guccifer 2.0".

Both, according to Rod Rosenstein, were created by Russian GRU. Cryptocurrenicies were used to make payments for information.  A state election board was also hacked and obtained the names of 500,000 voters.  State and local officials were targeted as well using the above tactics.

No votes were changed at all despite the alleged charges.  No Americans were listed as targets of the criminal charges and indictment, and no Americans were aware they were talking to Russian GRU.

Rosenstein then went on to defend the Justice Department's actions recently, by stating that most Americans are generally unaware of the facts, and that investigations are not played out on television or in Congressional Hearings, a clear shot taken at the recent Congressional hearings held by Republican chairmen Bob Goodlatte, Trey Gowdy as well as outspoken members such as Jim Jordan.

The vast majority of his press conference seemed to be aimed at those who feel the Justice Department is somehow not operating above-board, and reminded Americans to work together, to move forward, to maintain our values and defend America.

According to Rosenstein, President Trump was personally briefed by him, and he is fully aware of the charges of the Russian military members on the eve of his meeting with Vladimir Putin.
